Exploding 4th of July Stars!

Hello Everyone!  Today I am featuring another Independence Day card made by our very own Jo!

Jo used this Exploding Stars die (available at Creative Impressions) on a diagonal and cut on a blue panel.  The panel was then adhered to a larger white card.  She then added a Ribbon bow made with Creative Impressions 1/4" Red Organdy Ribbon ( 70630) to the center of the stars.

To finish, Jo stamped "Let Freedom Ring"  (E193) with Red Ink onto a piece of white scrap cardstock.  She cut around the letters and adhered the sentiment to the lower left side of the card.

To finish, some Star Brads ( 90295 Red, White and Blue Asst) were added randomly onto the top right side of the card.

I love this simplicity of this lovely card, don't you!  Easy to make to celebrate the Holiday!

Enjoy!

A Star-Spangled 4th!

Hello Everyone:  I continue to be amazed at how fast time flies!  Here it is June 18th and the 4th will soon be here!  To honor our independence Day, I made a card featuring a star with the Pledge of Allegiance on it as the focal point:

Nothing says Independence Day as much as bling does, especially Red, White and Blue Bling!  Right?  I decided I wanted to use our Creative Impressions stamp V155, so I stamped it on a scrap piece of white cardstock using blue ink.  I then took a ruler and pencil and drew a star around the words to the Pledge of Allegiance.  The star was cut out and adhered to a larger piece of red cardstock.  The red cardstock was cut slightly larger than the white star so that it would stand out more.  I then set it aside.

An "Exploding Star" die (also available at Creative Impressions) was placed onto the center of a piece of navy blue cardstock and die cut.  This piece was adhered to a larger piece of white glitter cardstock to  add some extra bling to the edges of the card as well as providing a "see-through" sparkly element to the die-cut stars.  Here is a close-up so hopefully you can see the glitter a bit better:

One of my favorite things to do is layer ribbons.  Two ribbons gave me this wonderful opportunity to add even more bling to the sides of the card.  I used our 1/4" Glimmer Ribbon in red on either side of the panel.  Before adding to the card back, 1/8" Braid Ribbon in Blue with Red (70705) was adhered with white liquid glue to the center of the ribbon.  Finally, the edges were wrapped to the back of the panel.

This panel was then adhered to a red panel and finally a white card.  The previously set aside large stamped star was adhered to the center of the card using foam tape.  Finally, Creative Impressions Star Bling (50540) was added in a few places.

Hope you like this card and are looking forward to creating your own 4th of July cards.  Next week I will have two more cards featured created by our very own Candie!

Enjoy!

Just Fluttering By!

Hello Everyone:  I have another fabulous Jan Francis card to share with you today:

Jan stamped and embossed the bird and branch (Y576) Nature Speaks onto a piece of patterned paper with an open design.  She then colored in the bird, branch and leaves and cut around the edges of the piece with a deckle blade.  It was then set aside.

"Just Fluttering By to say "Hi" (TT235 Garden Faire Sentiments) was black embossed onto another scrap of design paper and trimmed on the top and bottom with a deckle edger.  Now both this piece ad the bird on the branch were now adhered to a panel of patterned paper which has a rustic look.  Before adhering this new panel to a tan card, adhere two Pewter Square Paper Fasteners (95002) to either end of the sentiment.  Now adhere this panel to the card.

Easy and a really sweet card, isn't it?  Now try it yourself!

Enjoy!

Celebrate!

Hello Everyone:  Today we pulled out a Birthday card from the Archives here at Creative Impressions that, although a wonderful card, needed a little something extra.    Here is what we did:

The card was very creative to begin with.  Three pieces of different color paper scraps were embossed with different designs and placed on a blue mat which was then adhered to a white card.  Two more different blue scraps were then added to on top of the embossed pieces, placing one on the diagonal.

The Felt word "Celebrate" from 63140 Celebration was adhered over the top of t he scrap blue pieces.

To add a little pizzaz to the card, three Balloon Brads (90611 Tropical and 90613 Metallic Balloons)  were adhered to the card towards the right side.  Each balloon had a  piece of Purple/White Baker's Twine (80706) attached to it before they were added to the card.  The three pieces of twine were then tied together with a piece of our Grid Ribbon in Celery (70279).  I just LOVE this Ribbon!  It tends to naturally curl and adds a lot of interest to a card.

That's it!  You couldn't find a simpler and yet darling Birthday card!  Now it's your turn!

Enjoy!
