Something Spooky This Way Comes...

Hello Everyone!  Time certainly has been flying and Halloween will be here before you know it!  You can create some really fun and easy cards with some absolutely darling Halloween stamps, so I thought I would feature several cards in this post using these stamps.

Halloween is always a fun time to create cards.  I have never been into the real scary parts of Halloween I see out there; just give me cute costumes on little kids and fun!

I thought a bit out of the box with this card.  The glass is from our Anniversary set #YCC226 Champagne Anniversary Silhouette.  I stamped the glass onto a white card panel that had orange  ink blended into it.  Instead of a congratulations sentiment, I turned the "champagne" into a scary purple potion to celebrate the day!

I then stamped "Eat, Drink and be Scary" (M418) with black ink on a piece of scrap white card stock.  I edged the piece with Purple Ink and then layered it onto a purple and finally an orange card stock mat.  This entire piece was then adhered to the card next to the glass.    I wrapped the top of the card panel with our Grid Ribbon (70284 Orange).  I used a scissor to lightly curl the ends of the ribbon, exactly how one would using gift wrap ribbon.  This is one of my favorite things to do!

Now adhere this panel to a black panel, a slightly larger patterned paper panel and finally to a card panel.
The last touch is to add one of our Felt Spiders from our Halloween  (63110 Felt Shapes). This is so easy as it is already die cut - all you have to do is adhere it to your card!

For the second card, I also used more of our Halloween Felt Shapes.  I apologize that I forgot to photograph this card separately.

This card was even easier than the first one!  I used a nesting die to cut gradually smaller sizes, starting with the largest in the patterned paper and he smallest on the white card stock piece.  I stamped "Say Boo and Scary On" (M417) on this white piece with black ink.

I added two ghosts from our Halloween Felt Shapes on either side of the sentiment and "Boo" from the same set right above it.

The last item I added to finish this card was a piece of our Trick or Treat Ribbon (80329 Ribbon Expressions) which was adhered to the front with Green Mini-rounds ( 90194 Tropical).

That's it!  Fun cards!

Thankfulness of Heart

Thanksgiving lends itself so beautifully to organic materials, earthy colors, and a vintage vibe.

Today's card features a quote from American poet Arthur Guiterman (1871-1943).

I used one of my favorite materials, cotton duck to stamp an alphabet frame.  I cut out the middle and distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink.  I sprinkled Antique Copper oak leaves and done!

We Aren't Done with Summer!

Hello Everyone:  Today I am featuring a butterfly card that is a bit different from anything I have posted in the past.    It has turned out to be one of my favorite cards!

I began by using two blending brushes to add Distress Oxide Inks to our Lg. Butterfly No. YY215.  Once the colors were added in the center and the edges of the butterfly, I blended them further with the brush so that I wouldn't have a strong line separating the two colors.  I added three Silver Pearls                     to the main body of the butterfly, cut out the butterfly and set it aside.

For the card background I used a large scrap of green patterned paper and adhered it to a cream card.  I then took two strips of a different green patterned paper scraps inked the edges with green ink and adhered them to the first background paper.  The Leaf from Set (Y578 Love) was stamped in various places  with dark green ink which unified the composition.

Finally I wrapped a piece of our 3/4" Olive Crepe Ribbon (70138)  around the front of the card at the fold and tied it off.  I stamped with black ink "Just Fluttering By to say Hi" on a scrap piece of patterned paper that matched the background paper.   It was adhered to a green mat and then to the card.

The butterfly was adhered to the  card using foam tape in the center.  Easy peasy!

Here is a last close up of the card:

Hope you will take the time to  try this technique yourself.

May God Richly Bless You

I'm thinking about Thanksgiving already and today's card will give you plenty of time to get this sweet Creative Impressions MSE Innie & Outie stamp.  The stamp features an outer and inner sentiment.

A few details about the card:
  • I stamped the words with Vintage Sepia Versafine ink and then embossed with clear ink.  It's hard to see on the computer but it emphasizes the words a little.
  • The next layer is a piece of cotton duck with black paint splatter.  I used Caramel Blank Twill Ribbon tied to the Heritage metal loops.  I cut the finished edges off the twill ribbon for a more distressed look.
  • I used black paint and Wendy Vecchi's stylus for random black dots and around the border.  The faux stitching is with a Uni Ball Signo 207 micro gel pen.
