Merry Christmas from Creative Impressions!

This super cute Merry Christmas tag stamp is great for cards or for decorating your packages.

Three points of texture create interest on this Creative Impressions Christmas card: embossing paste, clear embossing powder on the words "Merry Christmas" on the tags, and white embossing powder on green tree brads.

Emphasize the words "Merry Christmas" with clear embossing powder.

I used a Versamark pen and made small dots over the area of the words.
Sprinkle with clear embossing powder for a subtle highlight.

Creative Impressions green tree brads get a dusting of snow with a bit of white embossing powder.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas from Jan and the Design Team at Creative Impressions!

Happy Holidays from Creative Impressions!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!  We hope this finds you well and anticipating a joyful and peaceful holiday!  Here are just a few cards I have made to introduce you to some of our new My Sentiments Exactly stamps along with our popular embellishments:

This first fun card was so simple to make.  I used MSE's stamp No. J338 and stamped the sentiment onto a piece of white card stock.  Then I hand drew a "light cord" with a black pen and adhered 5 Light Bulb Brads (90656 ) to various places.  All that was left was to mount the white card onto a red mat, then to a piece of patterned paper and finally to another red card.

This next card also very simple.  I used MSE Stamp Number  W360 and stamped the image with Versamark clear pigment ink.  Then I sprinkled red embossing powder on the image and heat embossed.  The stamp has an open space in the center for the tree.  I stamped just the tree portion of the stamp onto a scrap card, cut out the tree center, colored it with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and Gathered Twigs, drew some squiggles on the tree with a black pen, added some of our  Metallic Rounds (90670)  for ornaments and adhered the finished tree to the open space with foam tape.  So easy!

I hope you have enjoyed these cards.  All of us at Creative Impressions appreciate  your business and friendship and wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Christmas Cards from Jan Francis!

Hello Everyone!  We have another treat for you today - Christmas cards by Jan Francis!

Jan used some of our new My Sentiments Exactly stamps along with Creative Impressions embellishments o create these wonderful cards.

This set Y604 has to be one of my favorites!  After stamping and coloring the image onto a white card stock panel,  Jan stamped a few more holly leaves included in this set onto scrap card stock, adhering  them with foam tape over the bottom leaves to add some dimension.  She used our  Bright Circle Bling (50500) to add some sparkle to the holly berries.  Our gorgeous 3/8" Satin Shimmer Ribbon in 70482 Tan was wrapped around the top and bottom of the panel, adding a beautiful finishing touch.  The panel was then adhered to a white card.

The second card features a digital download Poinsettia which was stamped, colored and placed behind a circle opening of a patterned paper panel.  Jan used our 2" Rose Pink Web Ribbon (70199) across the bottom of the panel and laid a pattern paper piece stamped with "Merry Christmas",   finishing with a Gingham Apple Green Ribbon  (80243).  She used some Pastel Circle Bling (50501) to add a few sparkles randomly on the panel.

We hope you have enjoyed these wonderful Jan creations.  More to come!

Happy Thanksgiving from Creative Impressions!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!   We are very grateful for all of our loyal customers, so, in  honor of this special holiday, Susan has created three cards for you.

I absolutely love creating with our My Sentiments Exactly stamps and our Felt Shapes (63100 Autumn Leaves and pumpkin in 63110 Halloween)  They make creating beautiful cards fun and easy!  The first card features our MSE stamp J359,  which is an Innie and Outie so that you have two sentiments - one for the front and one for the inside of the card.

For the next I used the MSE stamp Z321, an oval die cut I was saving,  the Autumn Leaves Felt Shapes and our Thin Twine in Natural (80604).  I used an embossing folder on a slightly smaller piece of ivory card which creates the background.

Finally, I used our MSE stamp V166,  colored with markers, our Autumn Leaves Printed Ribbon (80118), two Felt Leaves from our Autumn Leaves Felt Shapes, a Pumpkin from our Halloween Felt Shapes and finally a bow created with our Natural thin twine.

Whether or not we can be with family this year due to Covid, we wish you a peaceful and Happy Thanksgiving.  We have so much to be grateful for.

Susan

Mixed Media Thankful

Thankful!  A timeless message for us all.

This mixed media card features a web ribbon background and a layered cotton fabric & ribbon.

The Antique Copper leaf is raised just a little inside the Antique Copper frame.  Pierce a thick piece of material (like chipboard; I used grunge board here) with an awl and then line up a hole punch and punch a circle.  Feed the leaf brad into the little circle to create a spacer.  A bit of cheesecloth helps fill the area in the frame.

When sewing the green resin buttons on the twill ribbon, I put a touch of glue behind the buttons so that the holes would stay level and stable.  The buttons are tied with a bit of Natural Thin Twine.

I love these Creative Impressions buttons!  The colors are rich and the finish is matte resin.  You can ink them, stain them, even stamp on them!

Hope you like the card and I'm thankful you stopped by!

Creative Impressions trims & embellishments used on this card:
Moss Web Ribbon 70198
1/2" Tan Cotton Twill 80509
Moss resin buttons 51012
Natural Thin Twine 80604
Metal Maple Leaf Asst (antique copper) 95552
Antique Copper Metal Frames 84502
Antique Copper Mini Round brads 95557

Slimline Card by Jan Francis!

Hello Everyone from snowy Colorado!  We are so very grateful for the snow which has helped control the fires burning in different parts of our beautiful state!

Have you noticed the latest trend in card making - Slimline cards?  They are all the rage.  We love them here at Creative Impressions and would like to share a lovely card by Jan Francis:

Jan used Distress Ink to blend color into the white background of the card.  She cut some floral images out of patterned paper and adhered them to the background.  This would have been a cute card by itself, however, by adding some Creative Impressions Purple Felt Flowers along with our Yellow Paper Fasteners for the flower center, this card was taken to a new level of pretty!

Finally, Jan added a little "hello" stamped image and layered it to several different color cardstock mats.  Don't you just love the whimsy in this card?

What would we do without our Paper crafting hobby during these difficult times?  I know I would be going crazy!  Time to pull out your supplies, place an order with Creative Impressions for fabulous embellishments and create!

Happy Trails, y'all!

Anyone down for a little layered ribbon?  Here I've layered Creative Impression's fabulous web ribbon (in NEW colors!!), 1" twill in natural, metallic shimmer ribbon, and Happy Trails message twill.

This is a super simple card.  A few strips of coordinating, multi-textured ribbons, set off with a trio of Antique Copper brads.  The fall leaves pair nicely with mini brads to anchor the ribbons.

"Happy Trails" is a fun choice for birthdays, retirement, thinking-of-you, and other occasions that fit the season.

A Trio of Cards

Hello Everyone:  I recently challenged myself along with a friend to create some different cards using Creative Impressions Felt Blossoms,  some of the new Web Ribbon and different colors of twine.  Here are the last of the cards I would like to share with you:

The first card features our Navy Thin Twine (80602) and Small and Medium Felt Blossoms along with a Felt Leaf and White Button to finish it off.  I used scraps from the scrap bin on the side edges of the card.  I then wrapped the Navy Twine several times around another scrap piece of patterned paper, placed pop dots on the back of the piece and adhered it to the center of the card.  To finish I added a die cut "Happy Birthday" and the blossom flower.  I had some Perfect Pearls that accented the card nicely.

The next card is a simple yet a darling card.  Once again I went to my trusty scrap bin and found a lovely piece of patterned paper.  I created another flower using our Felt Blossoms,  Felt Leaf , Light Blue Thin Twine and a White Button (51000)  There is a surprise on this blossom.  How about adding a purple Medium Heritage Felt Snowflake (63001) for some extra texture?  Love the way it turned out!  To finish,  adhere the blossom to a piece of dark purple card stock adhered to the patterned paper.  A die cut "Hello" creates a happy sentiment for the card.

Finally, my last card features a brand new color of Web Ribbon in Moss (70198).  I added a piece of this new Web across the middle of a scrap patterned paper piece onto which I had previously punched a pretty border.  I created three felt flowers with our Blossoms and Leaves and small White and Pink buttons for the centers.  I stamped "Thank you" onto a piece of scrap white card stock that was wrapped twice with our Rose Thin Twine.

Hope you enjoyed this Trio of Cards and are inspired to make your own!

September Blooms

Hello Everyone:  I can't believe it is September already!  Even though Fall is around the corner, we aren't ready to give up on beautiful flowers that can be enjoyed year 'round.  We are featuring our fabulous Guest Artist, Jan Francis this week who has graciously sent us some terrific cards, including this one:

Isn't this a gorgeous card?  Jan stamped the jar holding the flowers first on cardstock and then on acetate.  Once these was adhered to her lovely background paper and card, Jan added some flowers using our Lg. Felt Pastel Blossoms (62201), Med. Tropical Sheers (60600),  Sm. Bright and Tropical Iridescent Blossoms and Med. Felt Leaves (62103) put together with Bright Glimmer Rounds (90903) and made a beautiful bouquet.  Here are some close ups:

This lovely composition will definitely brighten someone's day, don't you think?

Thank you so much, Jan, for sharing your wonderful talent with us at Creative Impressions!

Special Guest Artist Chari Hogsett

Hello Everyone: Today I am featuring a trio of cards made by our Guest Artist this week, Chari Hogsett. I challenged Chari to make several cards using some of our new Web colors along with
some Felt Blossoms.  Here are Chari's creations:

Each card is very different.  First up is a card which uses our new Burgundy Web.

Isn't this a gorgeous color?  The patterned paper behind it is a scrap of patterned paper.   Chari added a large flower put together with Heritage Felt Blossoms, a Felt Leaf and one of our medium size buttons. A smaller flower was added to the bottom right corner.  To finish the card, a length of our Burgundy Twine was adhered to the right side of the card and a lovely sentiment is pop-dotted over the twine.

Next we have a card using our new Navy Blue Web along with coordinating colors of our Felt Blossoms made into a floral focal point.

To start with, the card background was created by embossing a piece of white card stock and adhering it to a navy blue card.  The web was then added to the top of  the  embossed card using Matte Medium, a die cut shape added over the top with a message and finally the Felt Blossom flower was added for the finishing touch.  Easy and lovely!

Now for the last card.  This card features three flowers made with a mix of large, medium and small Felt Blossoms.

Chari went to her patterned paper scrap box and adhered several narrow strips of paper to either side of a white card.  Then she adhered several sizes of Heritage Felt blossom flowers to the left side of the card.  All were finished with different color buttons from our wonderful Button Collection.  To finish, "thank you" was stamped on a die cut scrap of white card stock and adhered to the card.  Another easy and very "doable" card!

Hope you will pull out those Felt Blossoms, create some beautiful flowers using our darling buttons and attach some new Web colors to your cards.  Have fun creating!

Blossoms to Brighten Your Day

Hello Everyone! As this Covid-19 Pandemic drags out, I thought I would share a card with colorful blossoms to hopefully brighten your day! If you have a garden, I'm sure you have some lovely flowers growing, reminding us that Summer is still here.
To start I got out some Medium and Small Felt Blossoms and Leaves (with the exception of one small Iridescent blossom for the center of one of the flowers) and sewed each one together, finishing with a small button from our color coordinating button Collection to create some darling flowers. I Looked through my stash and found this fun paper in my scrap bin that matched the color of the blossoms. I had also recently purchased a Penny Black Circle Embossed frame that I thought might be fun for something my flowers could adhere to. After stamping "It's Your Day" to the inside of the circle, I adhered the frame with some foam tape and then added 5 flowers to the frame. So easy to create. Hope you like this card and will try to make one for ourself. Have fun putting together those flowers! Susan

A Masculine Birthday Card - Designer Jan Francis

Hello Everyone:  I probably should have posted this card earlier in case anyone wanted to copy this same format for a Father's Day card, however, it's not too late for masculine birthdays later in the year or even in the coming year.  Hope you love this card by our very own Jan Francis as much as we do!

Isn't this clever?  Jan used Creative Impressions Cork Paper along with some paper scraps, a Happy Birthday stamp and alphabet pieces to create this beautiful card.

Jan die cut several stars from cork paper as well as a mat created with the same paper onto which she layered all the separate pieces.  She cleverly used two scrap pieces of patterned paper die cut in a rectangular shape, layering the second piece with foam dots.  Then she added the cut stars, adding bits of foam tape to the edges of the larger stars in order to bring them to the same level as the die cut patterned paper piece.  All that was left was to stamp Happy Birthday at the bottom of the cork layer and add some heavy card alphabet pieces spelling the word "Dad" and the card was finished.  Easy and elegant!

If you would like to copy this idea, we have Cork Paper available n either 8 1/2" x 11 3/4" sheets (89000), in 12" x 12" (89001) or in a package of 5 (8 1/2" x 11 3/4") sheets (89005).  Let us see what you create!

A TRIO OF BEE THEMED CARDS

Hello everyone:  Did you wonder what happened to me?  Well, during this crazy time of the pandemic I have moved my 90 year old parents here to Colorado from California and then I went back to sell their house and bring their car here. I haven't had much time to think of cards, but now I'm slowly digging out of extra stuff brought to Colorado and am ready to create again.  Hope you enjoy these cards:

I had so much fun creating these cards!  I gathered up most of my "bee" stamps, added some Creative Impressions embellishments and a Tim Holtz die and off I went!

The first card is probably the simplest, but they are all simple to create:

I stamped my sentiment in the center of a piece of white card stock and then stamped three bees around the sentiment.  I used a black pen to create a little flight path for my bees..  I had some black card stock scraps which I adhered to the top left and bottom right of the panel.

To make this card pop, I wrapped a length of Creative Impressions Bee 1/2" Printed Ribbon ( 70443)        around this panel.

To finish the card, the entire panel was adhered to a yellow card stock panel and finally to a white card.

Now for the second card.  I apologize that I didn't take a separate photo.  It is the card in the center:

For this Happy Birthday card, I  actually hand drew the beehive and cut it out.  I then used a Tim Holtz Sizzix Honeycomb die to cut out a honeycomb from yellow card stock and placed it behind my cut out beehive.  I cut a yellow card stock panel and placed it behind the beehive.

I used some Creative Impressions Heritage Small Felt Blossoms and Leaves ( 62002 ) , along with Heritage Mini Rounds (90173) to create two flowers at the left hand side of the hive and three more towards the bottom right of the card.  I took another length of Creative Impressions Bee Ribbon and wrapped it around the bottom of this panel knotting it over the flowers.

Lastly, I stamped, colored and cut out three bees and adhered them to different areas of the bee hive.

To create the third and last card, I used the  leftover yellow "hexagons" from the die cut honeycomb and glued them in different areas of my card.  I stamped "Thinking of You' on part of the white panel.  Three bees were stamped onto scrap card stock, cut out and adhered to the card.  This white panel was  adhered to a black mat, wrapped with another piece of CI bee Ribbon and finally adhered to a white card.

I hope you have enjoyed this Trio of Bee Cards.  Now get some Creative Impressions Ribbon and other embellishments out and show us your take on "Bee" cards!  We would love to see them!

It's a Great Time to Make Cards!

Finding yourself with all kinds of time lately?  It's a great time to catch up on making cards for family & friends.  This template is super easy to adjust to any that you need to make.  I really love using photos, especially old ones, to personalize birthday or anniversary cards.

Brown Glimmer Ribbon makes a pretty border and Cherished Memories Twill Expressions ribbon makes a nice contrast for the sentiment.  Attach with an antique copper Metal Loop & fastener.

Same layout, different look.  As always I LOVE a cork paper layer for texture.  You can use all your bits and pieces so nothing goes to waste.  I bordered with Hiking Boots Twill Expressions and hammered the antique copper brads to compliment the distressed look.  This is my husband's birthday card which isn't for a few days yet, so shhhhh.......

A Happy Message for You!

Hello Everyone:  I know this has been and still is a difficult time for all of us.  We hope you all are healthy and staying indoors right now to slow the spread of this virus.  I, along with many of you, was inspired to go to my studio and create a card with a happy message to hopefully cheer us all up!

"Don't Worry, Be Happy"- I hope this is the way we can be right now, even though it's hard!  I used B Line Designs stamps for this card along with Creative Impressions 1/4" Black Grid Ribbon (70276) and a White Button (51000).

I used a 1 1/2" punch to punch out three circles.  I then laid them on the right side of my yellow card and drew around them with a pencil.  I lined up the same punch with the pencil marks and punched three circles out of the yellow card.  I then placed a black card stock layer under the yellow card and traced around the circles onto the black card stock layer.  A slightly smaller 1 1/4" punch was used to punch out the center, creating a black layered mat.  I stamped the bee stamp on white card stock and placed the images behind the black mats.  I then adhered the yellow and black layers together.

I stamped the honeycomb on another piece of yellow card stock and layered it to black card stock.  I wrapped a piece of our Black Grid Ribbon around the panel and added a White Button to the center.  I wove the grid ribbon through the holes, tied a know and clipped the ends.  The panel was then adhered to the main card.

There you have it!  Hang in there, don't worry and be happy!

Spring Birthday Card

I know most of us are certainly ready for warmer days - could Spring really be right around the corner?  Yes, it is!  I have lots of birthdays in March and April, so I got to work to create some birthday cards in Spring colors!  Here is one of them:

This card makes me think "retro" and back to my days in the late 60's and 70's - oh dear, did I just age myself?

The whole card was made from scraps of card stock and embellished with, what other than fabulous Creative Impressions embellishments!  They absolutely "make" the card!  I cut out circles in different diameters with yellow, pink and purple card stock scraps and them placed them on a leftover piece of light green card stock that I ran through my Sizzix with a dot pattern embossing folder.

Once I was happy with the placement, I laid different Creative Impressions Flowers in Medium Sheer and Iridescent along with Small Sheer and Iridescents on top of the larger circles.  I then used some of our Tropical and Pastel Round Brads in different colors to create the flower.  I poked a hole through the card stock circle with a paper awl, added the flowers and adhered the larger circles over the previously adhered smaller ones using foam tape.

To finish this card, Creative Impressions Happy Birthday Ribbon Expressions was used to wrap around the opposite side of the card which was previously added to a purple panel.  No stamped sentiment required!  The ribbon says it all!  Finally, this panel was adhered to a larger pink one and finally to a white card.  What could be easier?

Hope this birthday card gives you some inspiration to make some for yourselves!

Happy Almost Spring!

Thinking About Spring.....

Anyone else obsessed with spring this year?  I pretty much am every year during January & February.  Riding out the winter, being patient (or at least trying).  But this year I'm looking forward to spring with such joy!  And it's almost here!

I created this spring tag anticipating adding it to a soon-to-be-created junk journal.  For the foreseeable future most of my posts are going to be additions to my junk journal,
the Creative Impressions way!

I started with a tea stained tag.  I spritzed it with Distress Oxide Sprays in pink, lilac, and amber.  I adhered a bit of lilac web ribbon.  I took my scissors and snipped the edge of the web ribbon from a couple of different angles to get a torn look.

Creative Impressions plain twill ribbon in natural is one of my favorites.  I keep it in every width available.

I spritzed the twill ribbon with Distress Oxide Spray in Fossilized Amber to prepare to make faux flowers.  Snip a length of twill ribbon long enough for a rectangular bit.

Fold the twill ribbon into a triangle, mismatching the corners.  Fold again into a smaller triangle.  You will need a touch of tacky glue to make the triangle hold.  Mismatching the corners creates a random effect with lots of earthy texture.

I go to thrift stores and buy denim to cut up and use for art projects.  Here I've used a pair of white jeans.  Denim is heavier and provides a good base for my flowers.  Add a dot of thick sticky glue onto each of the four corners of the denim base and glue down the triangles to create a faux flower.  I use Alleen's Tacky Glue.  Its so thick that pieces adhere almost right away and I don't burn myself with a hot glue gun.

Now comes the fun part.  I made a little faux garden with my twill flowers, mini brads, jumbo ric rak, and a pretty copper dragonfly.

I'll be adding to my junk journal with more Creative Impressions embellishments.  I can't wait to share it with you!  Thanks for stopping by the Creative Impressions blog.
